Just Make It Easy!

Whether we're trying to get hired, close a deal, complete a task or retain a user, we can sometimes swing the outcome in our favor by just "making it easy" for the other party.

What do I mean?

Here are 5 examples:

1. When an interviewer asks about your best project till date, share a story specifically about that. Don't share your long list of responsibilities, canned lines or philosophy on leadership.

Make it easy for them for them to realize your caliber.

2. When you submit a resume/cover letter, align the messaging with the job description.

Make it easy for them to acknowledge that you're a great fit.

3. When you're onboarding a new user, closely guide them to the next step they ought to be taking.

Make it easy for them to find their aha moment.

4. When delegating a task to a reportee, explicitly state what the end goal is.

Make it easy for them to complete the task as per your expectations.

5. When giving feedback to anyone, pinpoint the problem and suggest improvements instead of making vague, ambiguous statements.

Make it easy for them to improve.
