How Smartphone Charger Teaches Us Lessons

Lessons from a smartphone charger:

1. If you plug in 2 mobile phones that charge at different speeds, you'll find eventually both will top up at 100% given enough time.

Lesson: Hard work can be a great equalizer. Put in the hours & you'll be able to compete.

e.g. I sucked at C++. I had to spend an entire summer coding up little programs. Next quarter, I aced an advanced programming course.

BUT...

2. The wrong charger will not do much no matter how long you plug it in.

Lesson: One needs to be self aware of their limitations. There will be things that we simply don't resonate well with.

I performed poorly on my circuits course. Hundreds of hours later... I was still terrible.

3. Even if the phone is off, it will still continue to charge.

Lesson: Sleep is key as it adds to your capacity to perform.

4. You can charge without wires now.

Lesson: You can learn over Zoom without being physically there. It works.

5. Sometimes you need to bend the wire in a certain position to get it to charge.

Lesson: If you fail, approach the problem from a different angle. Pivot.
