Empowered by Marty Cagan

Just finished "Empowered" by Marty Cagan and I'm happy to report that it's epic. This follow up book to the widely-loved "Inspired" takes it up a notch.

This is a MUST read for every frustrated C-level executive, entrepreneur, manager & product person to understand what it takes to deliver consistent and high-impact innovation when building a global product.

Some key take-aways:

- Most organizations work with "feature teams" which mindlessly build against a predetermined roadmap. What they really need is "empowered" teams that are given customer problems to solve along with affording them the license to adopt the best path they see fit.

- Hiring managers should drive the staffing process, not HR.

- If your teams are always complaining about resources, unbearably slow progress and escalating tech debt, chances are that you have bad team topology i.e. how your teams are organized.

- Product management coaching is essential. Your PMs will grow with it, and so will your products.

If you haven't read it yet and you're remotely passionate about producing world-class products, drop everything you're doing and get a copy.
