Every human being makes sacrifices to get to where they are.
Students give up on indulgences to focus on their education.
Athletes put their body on the line.
Artists live frugal lives to pursue a passion.
Entrepreneurs cut down on sleep to push their businesses.
And most of us spend reduced time with families to climb higher in our careers.
We usually make these hard choices as individuals. We do it for personal gain.
But the hardest sacrifice is to give up something you intensely love & cherish for a greater good beyond your existence.
And do it when the upside isn't even evident in the short run. You commit to it based on a promise of a generous pay-off in the larger scheme of things.
And we all did just that.
In 2020, humanity made a collective sacrifice.
We isolated. We distanced. We parked our normal lives for a while.
We all pitched in to secure a safer future for each other.
Now, that's extraordinary. It's also what makes us human.
It is exactly this kind of sacrifice that Eid-ul-Adha represents. A simple act with a grand promise.
Let's live it in the right spirit.
Eid Mubarak.
